The Boys

I was often asked if I also made illustrations that portrayed black boys and black men. I usually make men who look a bit older and I hadn't thought about the fact that my work was a bit out of balance.

So I looked at my sweet, a bit crazy but funny brothers and cousins. And now I'm working on a whole series about different types of boys and men. Where they are portrayed a bit more playfully but also tougher and are translated into different situations and clothing styles.

Because often when you come across colored boys and men in artwork it often has to be very criminal or very dark. They often look angry. You always see weapons, money and naked girls but you see little of the soft side. Even if they look a bit tough. Often they are the biggest gigglers with the biggest heart, the ones with the craziest dances and I am slowly trying to portray that with my illustrations.
